Finding the JOY in the Journey

I have a spark story for you.

I was in a funk the other day. I wasn't in a bad mood, just ehhhh. Work has been a little rougher and I haven't been as active which just makes me more tired and stir crazy. I like to go out and do things, but I have been feeling drained from work lately. My husband and I have gotten into a routine of coming home, making dinner, baby bath + bed time. As a mom, and I know I don't have to tell the mamas out there, but its sometimes hard to remember yourself. After the dinner and dishes and bath and clean up I AM TIRRRRED! But, the other night I decided I was going on a solo Target trip + I was going to treat myself to ice cream and something that caught my eye. I was on my way.

Then, sparks started flying. (sparks are positive thoughts, actions, ect) I first received a call from my best friend back home. It is often hard to catch each other, but when we do we can just laugh and talk from right where we left off. Then, I walk in the store and this man said "hello!" with a big smile ( now that I'm thinking about it, it could have been creepy) but we'll give him the benefit of the doubt! Then I met Earlene.

Earlene was in the clearance clothes section and that is the first place I always go. I was on one side of the rack and she was on the other. I don't remember exactly what started our conversation.. something about how cheap this stuff was and she just loved coming to target and I probably responded with something like "me too girl, me too." haha (who doesn't love Target?) We started picking out clothes for each other and just UPLIFTING one another. I told her I was a teacher and she said her son was also a teacher, that she had so much respect for us. With excitement she shared about her business that her and her son also ran. She went on to make me buy a fun top that I couldn't wear to work because she thought I deserved it for being a teacher and not getting to wear fun things. haha! We were instant best friends. We joked about meeting up at Target once a week to uplift one another + make each other buy clothes. Earlene even told me that her dad and brother both had the name Earl and she got stuck with Earlene. When she was growing up she hated it, but now both her dad and brother are gone and she is thankful to have their name. She was the kind of person that looked into your eyes when she spoke and she spoke passionately, was easy to believe + trust. Eventually, after chatting and picking out clothes for one another we went our separate ways, but before we did she said "Tess, you really made my night" + I replied "Earlene, you really made my night too"

Somedays life is just a lot of bull crap with a side of the fun stuff, but thats life. In the same day I met

Earlene a friend told me to "find the JOY in the journey" I guess thats what I needed to hear because that night when a laid down to go to sleep I thought about the joys in my life and meeting new people like Earlene. Often we are too busy or distracted to even pick up our head to smile at someone we pass, but I was reminded that the world is filled with wonderful people. We just need to pick up our heads and look. Every day is a journey + we should find the joy in each and spend it with people that see the joy too. I hope I'll run into Earlene again and she can pick me out a cute outfit :)

I hope you enjoyed this little spark of positivity and find a way to share your spark with the world!

Much LOVE

Tess xo
